Care Instructions
To keep your genuine leather bag in good condition:
- Apply a neutral leather cream or moisturizing lotion regularly. Use a soft cloth to gently massage it into the leather surface.
- Avoid cleaning products that contain alcohol, turpentine, or other harsh chemicals—they can dry out or discolor the leather.
- If the bag gets wet, do not use direct heat (like a hair dryer). Instead, blot gently with a dry microfiber towel and allow it to air dry naturally in a cool, ventilated place.

About Washed Top-Grain Vegetable-Tanned Cowhide
Why Does This Leather Change Over Time?
- With regular use and care, washed top-grain vegetable-tanned cowhide may gradually develop a deeper color and a natural sheen. Small creases and changes in the surface are also part of how the leather ages.
About the Leather
- Top-grain cowhide tanned with plant-based tannins and treated with a washing process.
- The washed finish gives the leather a softer feel and a more relaxed appearance than traditional, untreated vegetable-tanned leather.
What to Expect
- Natural grain patterns and markings vary from one piece to another. The washing process creates variations in texture and natural-looking creases.
- With use and care, the leather may develop a deeper color and a more pronounced natural sheen over time.
- Creases and minor surface marks may appear as the leather is used and bent.
Care Notes
- This leather can get wet, but should not be soaked in water for extended periods.
- Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight.
- Water, oils, and friction may affect the leather's color or surface.
- Minor scratches and changes from use are normal characteristics of genuine leather.
Who Might Like It

- If you prefer a bag that keeps a uniform, unchanged appearance, consider these natural characteristics before choosing.

Understanding Leather Imperfections
Genuine cowhide leather is made from the outer skin of animals, and natural imperfections are a common characteristic of this material. These marks may appear on full-grain leather and result from various life experiences of the animal.
Since such imperfections are naturally formed and unavoidable, we kindly ask for your understanding and appreciation of the unique nature of genuine leather products.
Popular Questions
How to Distinguish between Kraft First Layer and Split Leather?
Cowhide can be divided into multiple layers (up to 8 layers). The outermost layer is the Kraft first layer (top grain leather), which has the best quality, followed by the Split leather and Regenerated leather.
Craftsmanship:
Kraft first layer (top grain leather) - The first layer cut directly from the animal's skin, retaining the natural grain and feel of the original hide. There are natural scars and blood tendon marks on the dermal surface. Occasionally there are knife wounds during processing and the belly area with extremely low utilization rate, as well as the cow's serial number imprint. The production process includes hair removal, tanning, dyeing and other steps, and the process is relatively complicated.
Split leather - The reverse side is the second layer cut from the kraft first layer (top grain leather), and its surface is usually covered with a layer of PU (polyurethane) film to enhance wear resistance and smoothness.
Regenerated leather - Made by crushing waste skins and leather scraps from various animals and blending them with chemical raw materials. Its surface processing technology is the same as that of genuine leather trimmed leather and embossed leather. It is characterized by neat edges, high utilization rate and low price. however, the leather body is generally thicker (not thick enough) and has poor strength.
Material:
Kraft first layer (top grain leather) - High fiber density, thickness is generally around 1.3 mm. The texture is hard, the leather is soft, breathable, wear-resistant and durable.
Split leather - The fiber density is relatively low, the thickness is about 1.68 mm, the texture is hard, but not as wear-resistant as the Kraft first layer (top grain leather).
Use:
Kraft first layer (top grain leather) - Because of its high quality and wear resistance, it is often used to make high-end leather goods, such as leather shoes, leather clothing, leather bags, etc. Duo to its soft leather, it is not suitable for stiff leather bags and other leather products.
Split leather - Because its cost is lower than that of Kraft first layer (top grain leather), it is usually used to make mid-to-low-end leather goods such as mobile phone cases, laptop cases, bags, or some leather products that need to be thinner, lighter, and stiffer.
Do genuine leather bags peel like faux leather bags?
Genuine leather does not typically peel in the same way as faux leather, which often has a synthetic surface coating that can crack or peel over time. However, the durability of genuine leather depends on its quality, surface treatment, and care. With proper use and maintenance, a well-made genuine leather bag can serve you for years.
Will my genuine leather bag become softer with use?
The way genuine leather changes over time depends on the type of leather and the bag’s construction. Some leathers may gradually become more supple with regular use, while structured designs are intended to retain more of their original shape. These changes vary by style and leather finish.
How can I choose the right genuine leather bag for frequent use?
Consider how often you plan to carry the bag, what you usually take with you, and whether you prefer a crossbody, shoulder bag, or tote. The leather type, strap design, and overall construction can all affect the carrying experience. Check the specifications of each style to find one that suits your routine.
How should I store my genuine leather bag when it is not in use?
Store your genuine leather bag in a clean, dry place away from direct sunlight and excessive humidity. Avoid placing heavy items on top of it, and use soft filling to help maintain its shape. Make sure the leather is dry before storing.
