Our Story - From One Bag to Another, A Journey of Change

At WOYAZA, our focus today is on simple fabric totes made from canvas and cotton — materials chosen for a more natural, low-impact way of everyday use. They’re lightweight, practical, and easy to carry. What matters most isn’t the bag itself, but what goes onto it. Each design is created by hand, whether it’s stitched patchwork, embroidery, or designs that are hand-painted or hand-lettered using eco-friendly ink.

The idea started one summer, during a quiet walk by the river. I remember seeing plastic bags tangled in the reeds, moving with the water, a bird pecking at one without knowing what it was. It was a small moment, but it stayed with me. It made me question how many things we use every day are made without much thought, and where they eventually end up.

That was when I began to shift what I wanted to create. Instead of just making bags, I wanted to make something that felt a little more considered — something people would actually want to keep and use, not throw away. The fabric totes came from that idea. Not perfect, not loud, just something simple with a bit of character.

Before this, WOYAZA started with leather bags, crafted from high-quality natural leather chosen for its durability and lasting appeal. They’re still part of the store today, more like a quiet, classic line for those who prefer that style. The same intention remains - to create pieces that are made to be used, kept, and not easily discarded.
